Dodge Company Description:
Dodge is a North American brand of automobiles and light to heavy-duty trucks from Chrysler. It was first manufactured in 1914, by the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. Dodge cars were the up to second place in American sales by 1920. But that year, tragedy struck as John Dodge was felled by pneumonia in January. His brother Horace then died of cirrhosis in December of the same year reportedly out of grief at the loss of his brother, with whom he was very close. Chrysler acquired Dodge in 1928 when Chrysler and Dodge engaged in an exchange of stock worth US$170 million and has since run it mostly as a brand of midrange cars and trucks. |
